Peter’s Chums was founded in May 2018 . Peter started off mainly taking on dogs that were reactive or nervous around other dogs. Solo walks were his main focus and niche. Having worked with some rescue dogs in the past he found that many would benefit one to one human attention. Using positive reinforcement to help them engage in stressful situations and not forcing them to go above threshold. Whilst he enjoyed doing solo dog walks eventually he introduced some of these dogs into groups. Not only was it beneficial but very rewarding to see that the solo walks had built a foundation to help the dogs cope better in a pack.
Group walks are very small numbers and the maximum in a group is five, but this is very seldom. Peter specifically choses to keep numbers down for better control and to build bonds with each dog he walks.
Peter has always been passionate about animal rescue and animal welfare. Since losing his sister to breast cancer he turned sorrow into a new positive direction. He now has his own menagerie of rehomed reptiles and invertebrates. Giving them a second chance in life. Seeing them grow healthy and blossom into beautiful creatures is pure happiness.
